Emerging talent

So you have a star student (or five), an ambitious young account-servicing team member, or a champion from the disability sector showing interest in a creative industry. Sounds like you have some emerging talent that needs celebrating!

Our Emerging Talent awards encompass Print Apprentice of the Year, Young Executive of the Year, Student of the Year, and the Inclusive Work Award. These awards provide opportunities for new talent to be recognised for their achievements, and bridge the gap towards industry. Students can be nominated by their employers, teachers, or faculty, and successful nominees will be contacted for entry, with the winners announced at the 11th Annual Diemen Awards night.

STUDENT OF THE YEAR AWARDS

The Student of the Year Award is open to tertiary students of any age who were studying a design, digital, or other creative industry course during 2024.

The winner will receive a shiny trophy, awarded at the 11th Annual Diemen Awards night on 1 March 2025. They'll also receive a work placement program at a Tasmanian design or digital company that aligns with the student’s studies, so the winner can immerse themselves within some of Tasmania’s leading creative organisations and explore the reality and excitement of a commercial creative environment.

To Enter:

  1. To nominate new talent, send your student's details to [email protected]. Nominations and entry are free!
  2. Successful nominees will be contacted for entry. Entrants must submit a folio of work, and undertake an interview with the friendly Diemens judging panel. Interviews cover the student’s folio, achievements to date, where they see themselves in the industry now (and in the future) and other relevant matters.
  3. The winner will be announced at the awards night on 1 March 2025 and presented with a trophy and lots of applause.
  4. Our Diemens team will work with the winner on finding a relevant placement in the creative area of their study.
